Online Academic Educational Modules in Integrative Medicine
Offers an introduction to various topics in the field of complementary therapies and healing practices. Each of the modules takes from 1 to 3.5 hours to complete, and is organized into short sections.
Modules: Overview to Complementary Therapies and Healing Practices; Culture, Faith Traditions, and Health; Introduction to Botanical Medicines; Introduction to Clinical Hypnosis; Spirituality in healthcare; Traditional Chinese Medicine; Introduction to Clinical Aromatherapy; Healing Touch.
All modules feature content written by subject matter experts and reviewed by a faculty team from the schools of Nursing, Pharmacy, and Medicine at the University of Minnesota. The learning objectives for the modules support the following competencies: ACGME for Medical Education, AACN for Nursing education, and AACP for Pharmacy education.
There are currently 15 modules availabe, 13 of which are eligible
for Continuing Nursing Education credit.
Online course on more than 100 herbs and dietary supplements. Developed by Kathi Kemper, MD, MPH of Wake Forest University School of Medicine and funded by a grant from the national Library of Medicine at the National institutes of Health. It includes 40 self-instructional modules about common clinical conditions in which patients might use herbs and supplements, an online discussion group and links to further information from academic centers and the federal government.
The course is evidence-based and is aimed at educating physicians, physician assistants, nurses, nutritionists, pharmacists and other health professionals.

Via web casts, each year two leading figures in science and medicine speak about their unique perspectives on the field of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). The lectures address the evolution of CAM practice and research and the current use of CAM by the public.
Web-based courses on various topics in Integrative Medicine include online material, required and recommended reading, virtual patients and a 3-CD set of interviews.
Nutrition & Health Series covers the fundamentals of diet and nutrition including a comprehensive review of the current literature and interactive clinical scenarios. Modules include Nutrition & Cardiovascular Health and Nutrition & Cancer. A new online session begins the 15th of each month.
Botanical & Health Series covers the use of botanical medicine to treat and prevent disease. Modules include Botanicals Foundations, Botanical & Womens Health, Botanicals & the Gastrointestinal System.
Clinical Integration Series evidence-based clinical approaches to a variety of disorders including asthma, cardiovascular health, depression, prostate and testicular cancers, and womens health.

Offers an online conference series entitled Complementary Medicine and Health Education. The current Online Forum is Evidence-based Practice & Complementary Medicine, June 24-July 1, 2005, Registration June 22. The forums are aimed at health educators, students and practitioners from orthodox, integrative and complementary healthcare backgrounds and serve to provide an opportunity for a wider discussion of issues related to evidence-based practice and complementary medicine.
